Arms stretched high and a deep yawn escaped from the boys mouth. He rolled over too far, falling out of bed. "Ouch...Perfect way to wake up in the morning." He mumbled to himself, sometimes too much. Stumbling downstairs and out onto the patio he smiled as the sun was rising over the horizon, lighting everything with pastel pinks and oranges. If there was one person he would want to share this moment with it would be Kira, his best friend since they were born. Kira happened to still be asleep upstairs. It was a saturday morning, and as usual the two boys had a sleepover, spending as much time together as possible.

The tree tops were scattered with spots of colors as if someone took a bunch of paintbrushes and just flicked them. The rolling hills covered in colored flowers. This gave the boy an idea. He ran out to the fields, still in his red boxers and white wife beater, and picked a handful of the wild roses. He ran quickly back to the house, knowing that Kira would still be asleep for a while anyway but still hurried. He placed some of the flower on the pillow beside Kira's head and took the rest and put them on the Pillow beside his mothers head. He loved having them wake up in the morning full of joy. It made the whole day go smoother.

Going and sitting on the porch again Athrun grabbed a book and got to work studying the mechanics of robotics, once again. He was the book-smart one. Kira was the do-smart one. He sat and read and waited for the world to wake up, with the cool morning breeze brushing against his skin.

The sun peaked through the window, into the once dark room and completely lightening it up. However, it happened to shine on a figure that was rolled up in blankets, having a peaceful sleep. That particular light stung his retina's under his eyelids and made him groan in displeasure. "Aahh..noo...go away.." he muttered, hiding his head under the blankets in a small attempt to hide from the morning light.

After a few minutes of waiting it out, trying to fall back asleep, Kira found it nearly impossible to do such and poked his head back out, sighing a bit. Glancing next to him, he saw no figure of his best friend and pouted a little before looking to his left. There on his pillow sat two little flowers, still moist with dew. He smiled at them and gently plucked them up with his slender fingers and took a gentle wiff. "Athrun, you little bugger." he spoke gently in a croaking voice before clearing his throat and pulled the blankets off, heading downstairs after he crawled out of the warm bed.

As he reached the kitchen, he saw that no one in the Zala household. It was a disappointment as he was looking forward to Mrs. Zala's pancakes, but he wasnt looking for those at the moment. Glancing out the patio as he was curious to know where Athrun was, he saw the figure of his friend sitting there and smiled more. He moved his body towards his friend, only in boxers and a t-shirt, opening the patio door and slipped out, feeling the warm breeze, "..Morning. What are you doing out here?" he asked gently, sitting next to him at the table.

Athrun looked over to Kira with a small, still sleep shed, smile. "I just love waking up to the colors and the breeze and the smell of..." He took a nice long deep breath. "Well, you at the moment, but it was flowers and morning dew." He giggled a little at his words.

"What are you doing up so early? Did I miss some big explosion?" One eyebrow quirked upwards at the question, teasingly making the question seem way more intimidating then it really was. "Moms not even up yet...so if you want pancakes we'll have to wait a while." He shook his head and made a clicky darn like sound with his lips.

"Did you like the flowers? I thought I'd give you a present this morning." A thought crossed the boys mind that he quickly pushed away. He had the sudden instinct to place his hand on top of his friends hand. Why did he keep having these feelings? Whatever live is like right now is exactly how it's supposed to be. He thought to himself. So stop trying to change things. Just let it things work themselves out. It seemed to be his philosophy on life as of late.

Kira felt a greasy, half asleep smile spread across his lips as he heard Athrun speak, "Ahh..you say that almost every time you are out here." he chuckled gently, looking out to the fields with that same grin.

With a broad stretch, his arms went up above his head and he loosened his sleepy body with a small groan as he heard more words. "Oh well..the sun was bothering me. I tried to go back to sleep but it didn't really work..heh.." he spoke sheepishly as he lightly scratched his arm, trying to revive his still half dead body.

"The flowers?" he asked in question before looking to the one in his hand and smiled. He had nearly forgotten them, "It was a nice present..thank you..I appreciate it." as he glanced over to his friend, seeing him suddenly slip into deep thought.

With a puzzled expression, he waved his hand infront of Athrun's eyes, trying to get his emerald eye'd friends attention, "Yo..earth to Athrun? Anyone in there?"

"Hm? Oh, yeah. Sorry." The smile reappeared, along with the sparkle in the eyes. "So, what do you want to do today?"

Just then Lenore walked into the kitchen and saw the two boys on the porch. Sneaking up on the two of them, she hoped, she spoke. "So which one of you two is trying to suck up to me now?" She giggled. "Good morning boys. How did you sleep?"

Athrun looked to Kira to let him answer first. After Kira's answer, he took his turn. "Just fine thanks. It's a beautiful morning today. And yourself?"

Kira pondered on Athrun's question, but as he was about to reply the sweet voice of a woman spoke behind them and he looked over his shoulder with a grin.

"Good morning, Mrs. Zala..I slept wonderful, thank you." as he turned to face her in a more proper way. "It was Athrun. He did it to me too.." and he lifted the flowers that he had been holding.

As he glanced to Athrun, a more broader smile came onto his face and he gently placed his hand on his friend's knee as they spoke to his mother. Lenore just giggled, "Honey, your suck a suck. I am good." as she kissed Athrun's forehead.

"Your father left early to go to work, And I will be away with Kira's mom to go to the next town for shopping. The war has made our grocery store go out of business.." she sighed, pausing and then continuing. "..but I have started up the pancakes. So hang tight."

Kira grinned even more, "Thanks so much!" as Lenore headed back inside.

Athrun turned to Kira, "See. Pancakes. After the wait." He laughed slightly, rubbing his thumb over Kira's soft skin. As Athrun looked into Kira's eyes, however, the smile faded into a look of pure emotion. The passion between the two friends was indescribable. They had a connection that no two other people in the entire world would be able to face.

"Come. Follow me." The corner of Athrun's mouth turned into a smile.

He lead Kira down to the beach and pushed him in the water, being dragged down from the hold that Kira had on Athruns wrist. "Ach!" They both landed in the water with a sploosh. Athrun sprayed Kira, starting a water fight.

After diving in and swimming for a little Athrun came back up, probably 20 feet into the ocean. There was a very freeing feeling about being out there. Wait a minute...

"Oh my god!" Athruns face turned pure red as he looked down and realized his boxers were missing. He quickly scanned the water for them, seeing them about halfway between him and Kira. Quickly, he swam underwater trying to get to them before Kira realized.

Kira smiled sheepishly at Athrun as the contact between them occurred. However, the smile that was once on his face had faded along with Athrun's as they gazed deeply into one another's eyes. He could see that faint sparkle withing his friend's deep Emerald eyes, seeing the passion that was kept inside the keeper.

"Eh?" he asked gently as he was suddenly dragged out of his seat and out to the beach. And before he knew it, he was surrounded by wet water and sand. He came up to take a breath but was greeted by a splash that made him laugh, "You! I will get you!" as he splashed him back before he saw no Athrun anywhere.

Looking around. his eyes spotted something red floating in the water and at first it scared him, thinking it was blood. However as Athrun poked his head up and turned bright pink, a smirk formed on his lips as he instantly booked it towards the item, knowing exactly what it was.

Luck struck him as he reached the boxers first, being a tad bit more athletic then his friend and was able to get there faster, and he yanked them from Athrun's grip and chuckled, swimming away, "Try to catch me!!" he laughed, his feet touching sand and further more allowed him to stand.

He ran out of the ocean water and onto the sandy beach, waving his boxers tauntingly in the air, "Ooooh..lookie here! Athrun lost his boxers!" Kira teased, smirking more as he felt his t-shirt stick to his frail body as he pushed his brown hair out of his eyes with a flick of his head.
